What is Stucco? Stucco is an exterior wall finish consisting of cement, sand and polymer bonding agents that can be used to cover stone, brick, block and even frame structures. When stucco is applied on a frame structure, tarpaper is used as a moisture barrier to help seal out the elements. A layer of wire mesh is then applied to give reinforcement to the subsequent layers of stucco. The first layer of stucco, known as a scratch coat, completely covers the wire mesh. Once this dries, a brown coat is applied to strengthen the wall. Finally, a top coat of stucco is applied in the color and texture of your choice.

What is Dryvit®? Dryvit® is a brand name for a full range of acrylic finishing products that create a sleek, smooth, aesthetically beautiful finish. This synthetic finish is applied as a top coat about 1/8” thick over a smoothly finished brown coat. Since Dryvit® is synthetic it retains a consistent color even on hot, rainy or snow days. Dryvit® also helps eliminate cracking that can occur with typical stucco finishes during harsh summers.
